US repair technician Greg Sky claims 64 GB and 96 GB versions of the GeForce RTX 5090 exist, though he has not shared photos or benchmarks to verify the claims.
A US-based GPU repair technician, Greg Sky, claims that modified versions of the GeForce RTX 5090 with 64 GB and 96 GB of VRAM exist. Sky made these claims on November 1 but has not shared any photos or performance benchmarks to confirm them.
To build a 96 GB version, 32 individual 3 GB GDDR7 memory chips are required. Sky says these chips cost approximately $100 each, meaning the memory alone for a 96 GB card costs $3,200. When adding the cost of the RTX 5090 and labor, Sky says the total price would be close to the cost of an Nvidia RTX 6000 Pro.
Sky says these modifications likely only make sense in markets like China where Nvidia RTX Pro cards are unavailable. Similar projects have happened before, with reports saying a 48 GB RTX 4090 previously sold in China for around $3,400.
