A researcher named pepsipu demonstrated a software-based jailbreak for the Switch 2 on October 22. The exploit, called ns2jb, works on firmware 23.0.1 and does not require a modchip or hardware modifications. The entry point is SmileBASIC 4, a $24.99 programming app available on the US eShop.

The researcher used the AI to analyze data and attempt to reach system modules while working alongside the tool. The jailbreak allows for running homebrew, backing up save files, and modding games, though system access is lost every time the console reboots. Security researcher Gezine says the work "seems legit" but has not personally tested the exploit.
