TL;DR

Square Enix director Naoki Hamaguchi explains that the initial entry was the most challenging to create, and the trilogy concludes in April 2027.

According to director Naoki Hamaguchi, the initial installment of the project proved to be the toughest to build. During a recent discussion, he mentioned that the crew restarted production with only thirty people, forcing them to establish everything from the ground up without prior templates. He also pointed out that poor sales initially could have ended the entire series.

Later chapters benefited greatly from the groundwork laid by the opening title. The concluding chapter is scheduled for an April 2027 release across multiple platforms, including personal computers and home consoles. Furthermore, the final game will place summons directly into the open world rather than confining them to virtual training simulations.
