Voltage announced Kakan Ruirui: The Caged Lantern of Yomi, a Japanese-inspired dark fantasy otome game for Nintendo Switch. The title is a collaboration between Voltage and Toei Animation, with developer HYDE also involved. It is planned for a 2027 release in English and Japanese.
Ririka Yoshimura is the writer and co-director alongside Rei Misaki. Yone Kazuki is the illustrator, with Naohiro Yuki handling backgrounds. The project features music by Yamato from Heart Company and a theme song by Arika. Voltage says the game will have a tragic or dramatic tone. A first teaser video will debut on November 7 at the Animate Girls Festival 2026. The main characters are scheduled to be revealed on the game's official X account at 12h JST on that same day.
