Testing of the ACEMAGIC F5A mini PC shows the Radeon 890M achieves an 18.7 percent higher 3DMark Time Spy graphics score using LPDDR5X-8000 memory compared to DDR5-5600.
Testing of the ACEMAGIC F5A mini PC shows the Radeon 890M integrated GPU gains 18.7 percent in 3DMark Time Spy graphics performance when using LPDDR5X-8000 instead of DDR5-5600, according to ETA Prime. The test used a Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 in a 65-watt performance mode to reach a 4,678 overall Time Spy score. While graphics performance increased, CPU results remained largely within the same range as other HX-470 devices.
The LPDDR5X-8000 memory provides 128 GB/s of theoretical bandwidth, which is 42.9 percent more than the 89.6 GB/s provided by DDR5-5600. Because the Radeon 890M uses shared system memory, it is sensitive to these bandwidth changes. The F5A uses 32 GB of soldered LPDDR5X, which prevents memory upgrades. In contrast, many other mini PCs use replaceable DDR5-5600 SO-DIMMs.
In games, the advantage is less pronounced. Forza Horizon 6 ran at approximately 71 FPS at 1080p on medium settings without FSR. Actual scaling in games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Spider-Man 2 depends on the specific workload and resolution. While the F5A BIOS offers settings up to 8,533 MT/s, which AMD says is supported on the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470, this test only used the 8,000 MT/s default. Since the DDR5-5600 comparison used different mini PCs, differences in cooling or power limits might contribute to the performance gap.
