TL;DR

Team Group states that global memory shortages will peak between late 2026 and mid-2027, with the DDR5 16 Gb contract price climbing to about $48.

Team Group reports a record third quarter with revenue hitting NT$10.14 billion, but company executives warn that the global memory shortage is far from over. The worst of the supply squeeze is projected to run from late 2026 through mid-2027. Major DRAM makers have reportedly sold out their 2027 supply to AI server clients.

The contract price for a 16 Gb DDR5 chip climbed to about $48 by September 2026, up from $8.70 a year earlier. Buyers sourcing parts on the spot market face an additional 30 to 50 percent premium. Team Group states that money may soon fail to secure memory if stocks run dry entirely. Business customers now account for 64.6 percent of company sales, a sharp reversal from retail builders taking the majority share in 2025. While Acer suggests component prices could reverse in the second half of 2027, a true supply and demand balance may not return until late 2028.
