Epic Games revealed the Pirate Shop token has a 1 in 137,500 drop rate per chest following player calls for a boycott and reports of $10,000 eBay listings.

Epic Games revealed the drop rates for the Pirate Shop token on November 7 following the #ReleaseTheOdds campaign. The token has a 1 in 137,500 chance of dropping from a regular chest in a match, though players estimated the odds were closer to 1 in 700,000. During the first Treasure Hours window on November 7, the odds rose 1.5 times, and they doubled to 1 in 68,750 during the second window. Epic Games says future multipliers could be higher.

The Treasure Hunters mini-season began on November 1. The token provides two activations, one this year and one in 2027, which allow players to claim cosmetics from the Item Shop for free for two weeks per activation. This excludes the Battle Pass, gifts, and real-money offers.

The rarity of the item led to reports of accounts selling for $10,000 on eBay and individual tokens being offered for $9,000. Streamer Jynxzi says he searched for the token for more than 75 hours. On November 6, players called for a boycott of the game, and others called for the FTC to intervene due to the large number of children playing. Epic Games says buying accounts or tools to find the token is a scam.
