DMZ early access begins October 20 for Modern Warfare 4
TL;DR
Infinity Ward is relaunching the DMZ extraction mode as part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, with multiplayer starting October 23.
Early access for the DMZ extraction mode begins October 20. Multiplayer is scheduled to start on October 23.
The mode is a PvEvP experience set in the Hajin exclusion zone, a fictional location where North Korea, Russia, and South Korea meet. Players deploy via helicopter into a map containing a leaking nuclear power plant. Matches can last from 15 minutes to more than 40 minutes depending on how quickly players extract.
Gameplay involves looting, completing missions, and fighting both NPCs and other players. If a player dies or fails to extract in time, they lose all armor, guns, loot, and their entire kit. Players can use money earned from successful extractions to buy back lost characters or 3D print replacement equipment and attachments at a Forward Operating Base.
The environment features varying threat levels ranging from mild to critical. While North Korean NPCs reportedly do not attack inside hospitals, human players may still target people in those areas for healing loot.
Background On October 16, players who pre-ordered the game were able to begin playing the story mode. Our earlier story
