TL;DR

Nvidia App version 11.0.9.585 introduces a hidden menu for splitting GPU resources between games and background tasks, though availability and performance impacts remain unclear.

Nvidia App version 11.0.9.585 quietly introduces a new GPU App Prioritization menu under the system advanced settings. Spotted by user Warkratos, the feature lets users manage graphics card resources between games and background applications.

Reports say the default configuration assigns an 80/20 priority split. Choosing Prioritize Foreground changes the split to 90/10, and custom adjustments can push the foreground share to 95/5. The setting could help when running a game alongside demanding background tasks like local AI models or rendering applications.

Availability appears inconsistent across hardware. A user discovered the option on a GeForce RTX 5090, while another found it missing on a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. It was also absent on a GeForce RTX 4090 system running Game Ready Driver 621.01. Nvidia's release notes do not mention the feature, and independent evaluations have not yet determined whether the percentages act as strict limits or improve frame rates.
