TL;DR

Players noticed a GPU App Prioritization setting appearing in Nvidia App version 11.0.9.585, which may allow GeForce RTX users to balance resources between foreground and background tasks.

Players noticed a GPU App Prioritization setting appearing in Nvidia App version 11.0.9.585. The setting is located under System > Advanced. While Nvidia has not officially announced this feature for GeForce hardware, it follows the introduction of comparable tools for managing RTX Spark resources during the final week of October.

Reports say the default profile uses an 80/20 split between applications. Selecting foreground prioritization reportedly shifts this to a 90/10 split, while custom settings may allow ratios as high as 95/5. Nvidia says these percentages should not be viewed as strict GPU utilization limits and the company has yet to clarify the technical operation of this feature on its graphics cards.

Some users with version 11.0.9.585 and recent drivers report they cannot access the setting. Nvidia official release notes for version 11.0.9.585 do not mention GPU App Prioritization.
