TL;DR

Six pallets of Nvidia equipment worth $11.4 million disappeared while being transported from Oakland to Fort Worth in late August, according to reports.

Six pallets of Nvidia hardware worth $11.4 million were stolen while being transported from Oakland, California, to Fort Worth, Texas. The shipment left Oakland on August 29, 2026, but the cargo never reached its destination.

A truck displaying a food transport company logo collected the load as planned. Reports say the truck made several multi-hour stops while traveling south before investigators lost the vehicle's trail in San Bernardino County. While buyers reportedly realized the cargo was missing in early September, the Oakland Police Department says the theft was not reported to them until September 13.

The exact contents of the six pallets have not been disclosed. It is unclear if the shipment contained AI accelerators, complete systems, or GeForce graphics cards. Olaf Groth, a professor at UC Berkeley, notes that foreign markets often pay nearly double the domestic rate for such processors. He notes that a chip costing approximately $550,000 could sell for $1 million or more overseas. Groth says these heists are becoming more complex, which suggests more professional crews are involved.

No arrests have been announced and authorities have not confirmed if any of the hardware has been recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
