TL;DR
SHI Government Solutions listed the PNY-built RTX PRO 5500 for $17,999, which is more expensive than the RTX PRO 6000 despite having fewer specs.
SHI Government Solutions listed a PNY-built RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell workstation card with an MSRP of $17,999 and a discounted price of $17,408.63. This price is higher than the $16,000 price listed for the RTX PRO 6000 on NVIDIA's US marketplace. The RTX PRO 5500 has 21,760 CUDA cores and 84 GB of memory using 28 GDDR7 modules. In comparison, the RTX PRO 6000 has 24,064 CUDA cores and 96 GB of memory. It is not clear if the $17,999 figure comes from NVIDIA or PNY, as NVIDIA has not announced official pricing since adding the card to its lineup in September.
Reports say Chinese demand likely influences the price. Data shows that ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent bought more than 3 million units for about $11,400 apiece, while overall Chinese demand reached an estimated 6 million. The RTX PRO 5500 is one of the strongest GPUs Chinese firms can buy because the B300 is barred from China and the H200 is reviewed case by case. One source said NVIDIA can make no more than 3 million of these cards in 2027.
