Modder NotRexed has released SkyboundTOTK, an unofficial native PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The project runs the game as a Windows application instead of using an emulator. NotRexed describes this as an early dev/beta release and warns that bugs, graphical issues, and incomplete compatibility remain.
The project is distributed as source code that must be compiled on Windows 10 or Windows 11. Users need to provide their own extracted copy of game version 1.0.0, as the release does not include game files, keys, or saves. The process requires at least 45 GB of free space in addition to the game files.
SkyboundTOTK includes FSR 1 upscaling, adjustable image sharpening, and keyboard and mouse controls with adjustable sensitivity. It also adds ultrawide support and experimental frame interpolation. NotRexed says the frame interpolation might introduce input lag or visual glitches during menus and fast-moving scenes, and it does not make the game run faster. While storing graphics data locally can help subsequent play sessions, stuttering may still occur when loading new scenes or compiling shaders. The port supports compatible gamepads and offers both fullscreen and windowed modes.
