TL;DR
Windows 11 26H2 is a 173KB enablement package for PCs on version 24H2 or 25H2, but users on 23H2 require a full 6.5GB update.
The Windows 11 26H2 update is a 173KB enablement package for PCs already running versions 24H2 or 25H2. Microsoft states that these releases use identical core operating system files. The package acts as a master switch to enable features that are already on the PC in a partially disabled state. This process changes the build number from 26200 or 26100 to 26300 and takes under five minutes to install.
Users currently on version 23H2 cannot use the small enablement package. Microsoft says 23H2 is on a different code branch, so these PCs require a full OS swap. This full update is close to 6.5GB. Windows 11 23H2 Home and Pro versions stopped receiving updates in November 2025. Enterprise and Education editions will stop receiving updates on November 10, 2026. For those performing a clean install, the 26H2 ISO is around 8GB.
