TL;DR

The store currently features 2,581 playable titles following the integration of the open-source Ruffle emulator, according to the itch.io founder.

Flash games are returning to itch.io through Ruffle, a browser-based tool. The itch.io founder says the platform added the feature to make older titles playable again following multiple player requests.

Developers with existing projects do not need to update their files. The site automatically swaps old embed code for an iframe running .swf files on a nightly build of Ruffle from November 3, 2026. The Ruffle team recently outlined ongoing project advancements in a blog post.

The store currently hosts 2,581 Flash games. Games relying on site-locks may require extra modifications to function properly. The platform invites users to report broken titles in the comments so the team can investigate.
