Hardware Unboxed creators enabled DLSS Frame Generation on RTX 30-series cards using the MFG Unlocker mod, reporting frame pacing and GPU load similar to RTX 40 and 50-series hardware.
Hardware Unboxed creators successfully enabled DLSS Frame Generation on RTX 30-series GPUs utilizing the MFG Unlocker utility. Tests showed that frame pacing smoothness and GPU load on the RTX 30-series were virtually identical to metrics from RTX 40 and 50-series cards. The creators suggested NVIDIA might have intentionally locked the technology for older cards, though they noted it is too early to make a final judgment since the tests only covered a small pool of games.
The MFG Unlocker utility also opens the control menu for DLSS Multi Frame Generation on RTX 20, 30, 40, and 50-series cards. This is a broader capability separate from the baseline Frame Generation used in the tests, so benchmark results for one do not automatically apply to the other. For Multi Frame Generation to work, a game must natively integrate the Streamline DLSS Frame Generation library. The mod remains incompatible with games that use third-party anti-cheat systems, and stable compatibility across every game is not yet guaranteed.
Background In November, DLSS 5 was made available to RTX 50-series users and GeForce NOW Ultimate, but older GeForce hardware was not supported. Our earlier story
