MSI plans to bring AMD's ML-powered FSR 4.1 upscaler to the Ryzen Z2 Extreme-powered Claw A8 in December 2026.
MSI plans to bring AMD FSR 4.1 upscaling to the Claw A8 BZ2EM handheld in December 2026. The update depends on stability testing and validation.
The Claw A8 uses a Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor with Radeon 890M graphics based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture. AMD says FSR 4.1 is an ML-powered upscaler that provides higher image quality than FSR 2 and FSR 3 when upscaling from low resolutions. On AMD APUs, the feature uses a lighter model.
MSI says the update will enable the upscaler on compatible games if the FSR Upgrade feature is enabled. Because AMD does not support Ryzen Z-series handhelds with Adrenalin drivers, device makers must distribute their own versions. MSI notes this causes delays compared to desktop GPU driver releases and means some driver versions never reach handhelds.
Background In October, AMD released FSR SDK 2.4, which includes the FSR Upscaling 4.1.2 update and brings ML-based upscaling to various APUs. Our earlier story
